NSA offers private and class instruction in piano, guitar, voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, jazz, drama, and the visual arts. We are Las Vegas’ premiere Conservatory for the Performing Arts and are proud of our internationally acclaimed faculty that includes graduates of The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Indiana University, and other renowned institutions.
Smart Start™
Tailored specifically to the developmental stages for children ages 0-4, the program’s curriculum consists of age-targeted weekly classes delivered by a trained and certified Smart Start teacher. For more than 130 years, The Royal Conservatory has translated the latest thinking about creativity into inspiring courses. Smart Start, a transformative early childhood music program, was created by their Neuroscience Research Centre in collaboration with its music educators.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are the foremost component of a well-rounded musical education. These lessons provide hands-on training in a one-to-one teacher/student setting. With individual attention, the student receives training in technique, repertoire, sight-reading, and performance skills.
Composition
This Media Scoring Workshop will empower participants to effectively blend music and visual media, creating impactful soundtracks that resonate with audiences. Through guided instruction, hands-on experience, and a focus on practical application, participants will gain the skills needed to embark on their own journeys as media composers and sound designers.
Music Theory
From pre-reading classes to 20th century atonality, music theory classes deepen understanding of the musical process and strengthen artistic expression and performance.
Piano Group Classes
NSA Group Piano Class is the perfect place to learn piano and basic music theory in a safe and fun environment. Piano ensemble playing and basic music theory such as reading skills, rhythm studies, aural skills, melody & harmony improvisation are taught in this class.
Chamber Music
Our Chamber Music Program is designed for intermediate and advanced middle and high school students, who are interested in advancing their skills in playing chamber music. Joining a chamber music group is one of the best learning experiences for a young musician.
NSA Masterclass Series
Nevada School of the Arts’ Masterclass Series allows for students to learn from the most talented and well-practiced professionals in this ever-shifting curriculum that bestows powerful insights from the best in the business.
Harp
These lessons provide hands-on training in a one-to-one teacher/student setting. Rebecca Martin has studied the harp for twenty-five years and has taught private harp lessons for over fifteen years.
Suzuki Talent Education Program
NSA Suzuki Talent Education Program starts by enrolling parents in a parent education course (included in your tuition). Suzuki students enrolled in the Nevada School of the Arts Suzuki program must attend all group workshops in addition to their weekly private lesson. The program offers opportunities for outside performances and participation in local competitions and festivals upon the instructor’s recommendation.
Preparatory Orchestra
Introduction to orchestra for violin, viola, and cello students from Books II-VI. This ensemble develops skills and techniques needed when performing with an ensemble.
Chamber Orchestra
The NSA Chamber Orchestra provides musical engagement opportunities to inspire students to achieve the highest level of technical skills possible while developing the dispositions necessary to become not only successful musicians but successful members of contemporary society.
Drama
Our Drama program will develop the student’s ability to bring body, voice, and heart in self-expression, confidence, role-playing, movement, and artistic communication. Our program is borne from the minds of Cheryl Daro and Steve Weiss, some of our city’s greatest creatives. This comprehensive program features weekly classes highlighted monthly by professional masterclasses/workshops with invited professional guests.
Guitar
This program began with one of Argentina’s most famous guitarists, Pablo Gadda. Pablo brings his knowledge of technique, world music, and different types of guitars to his students, giving them the ability to play acoustic and electric in a variety of styles.
Piano
Established by our school President, Raja Rahman, NSA’s piano program is headed by Cindy Lee, one of Las Vegas’s most gifted teachers. Our students often start as early as 5 and grow rapidly to become excellent piano soloists, sought-after collaborative pianists, or highly skilled amateur pianists.
Strings
Established by respected pedagogue, Mary Straub, the strings department is the largest department at NSA. Our Traditional Strings program, headed by Karl Reinarz, focuses on students age 6 and above.
Doreen Montalvo Vocal Arts
Our curriculum is tailored to the needs of the 21st-century singer, who must not only sing but act, dance, analyze text, take on roles with significant physical demands, and interact with colleagues from around the world. Faculty members will encourage you to progress at your own pace through weekly coaching sessions and numerous opportunities to perform at the school.
Woodwinds and Brass
This department features Rodrigo Corral, flute, and Robert Mitchell, clarinet. Two of our city’s best musicians, our faculty will enable the student to not only learn their instrument with great skill but prepare for placement in orchestras at NSA and beyond.
Conducting
Offering both NSA’s Introduction to Conducting and NSA’s Conducting Conference, our Conducting Program is designed for directors of secondary level string and full orchestras, youth orchestras and beyond.
Visual Arts
Continuing our tradition of training tomorrow’s visual artists, NSA’s newly conceived program is the brainchild of one of the foremost artists in our city, Erik Beehn. This program is designed for ages 11 and above.
Cello Choir
Our cello choir brings together accomplished young cellists, each contributing their unique skills and talents to create a fun group with exciting repertoire.
