Adam Stiber holds his Doctorate of Musical Arts from UNLV, where he studied with Andrew Smith, and his Master and Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied with Uri Vardi. His other primary teachers have been Peter Howard, Parry Karp, and Paul Critser.
During doctoral studies, Adam was the recipient of a Graduate Teaching Assistantship, and he has taught cello as an adjunct at UNLV and the College of Southern Nevada. Additionally, he has taught classes in music appreciation and the rudiments of music theory, and he has coached college nonmajor-level chamber groups. Achievements of Adam’s students include placements in the Susan Barton and Silver State competitions, successful auditions for ensembles including LVYAO, NMEA All-State, and CCSD Honor Orchestra, and performance in masterclasses for internationally distinguished artists.
Adam has performed in the Las Vegas Philharmonic as well as the South Dakota, Sioux City, Dubuque, La Crosse, and Mankato Symphony Orchestras, and was a finalist in the 2021 auditions for the Las Vegas Philharmonic’s assistant principal chair. Highlights of his freelance work have included performing for the Latin Grammys and Celine Dion’s music video “Ashes,” appearing weekly in a trio at the Venetian, and playing for organizations including Nevada Conservatory Theatre, Pop Strings Orchestra, Vegas City Opera, the Nevada Chamber Orchestra, and the Henderson Symphony Orchestra. While studying at UNLV, Adam was cellist in the Graduate String Trio as well as a contracted musician for the UNLV Wind Orchestra, and he took part in Eisenstadt’s Classical Music Festival.
